Adolphe Sax set his goals on creating a musical instrument with the “Tone of the strings, Power of the Brass, and the Facility of the Woodwinds”.  In the 1840’s Adolphe Sax succeeded with his intentions, and a new addition to the woodwind family was added… the Saxophone.

Today, over 160 years later, four Saxophonists in the Mid Hudson Valley have come together to expand upon Adolphe Sax’s ideals.

Moving beyond the traditional repertory for four saxophones, Mid Hudson Saxophone Quartet performs works covering composers from Bach, Mozart to that of the Beatles, Broadway tunes and genres from Classical  to contemporary works with jazz and popular music influences.

The Mid-Hudson Saxophone Quartet has presented two full length recitals in Poughkeepsie’s Cunneen-Hackett Cultural Center as well as being the featured artist at their Gala re-opening in 2004.  The quartet presented a master-class and performance at the 2007 Dutchess County Music Association’s Saxophone Day and were also the featured artist at the Culinary Institute of America’s 60th Anniversary celebration in 2008.

In 2009, the quartet was invited to play and subsequently performed to the warm reception of a standing room only crowd at the 32nd Annual International Saxophone Symposium at George Mason University in Fairfax Virginia.

Above all else, we enjoy what we do!

We are the “Mid Hudson Saxophone Quartet” and we can provide the entertainment anywhere a small ensemble is needed.
